The Files Tab
Want to look under the hood? The Files tab, next to Preview, shows all of your project’s code. You can browse folders, search for a file, and open it to see what’s inside.
The Files tab requires a Core plan or above.
Editing Files
You can also edit files yourself:
- Open the file you want to change.
- Make your changes.
- Click Save, or press ⌘ S (Ctrl S on Windows).
Your changes are saved to your project, just like the agent’s. While the agent is working, you’ll see AI is editing this file on files it’s changing, and you can’t save until it finishes.
Some files, like .env files, can’t be edited here. To change your API keys, use Environment Variables instead.
On Your Phone
Using CatDoes on your phone? Open the Files tab at the top of your project. Tap a file to open it, then tap Edit to make changes and Save when you’re done.
Referencing Files in the Chat
Type @ in the chat box to point the agent to a specific file or folder. Start typing its name, pick it from the list, and it’s added to your message. This helps the agent find exactly what you’re talking about.
The agent uses the same references in its replies. Click one to open that file in the Files tab.
You don’t need to know where things live in your code to use CatDoes — describing what you see on the screen works great. But if you do know the file, referencing it with @ saves the agent a few steps.
